VALENTINE'S DAY
Valentine's Day is the festival dedicated to the Lovers and is celebrated in almost all over the world, from Europe to the Far East on the day of February 14. The festival takes its name from the Christian Saint and Martyr Valentine of Terni which replaced the Roman festival of Lupercalia where he was honored fertility. The tradition of exchanging greeting cards and gifts between lovers dates back to the Middle Ages when it began to spread the Love Cortese. The first countries in Europe to recall the memory of St. Valentine were France and England thanks to the influence of the Benedictines. The Valentine's Day greeting cards are called "Valentine" and, to date, it is estimated that the day of February 14 will be shipped 1 billion, this places the party in second place as the number of tickets sent after Christmas. The party was associated with love for the fact that Spring is approaching, there is in fact the saying, "A Valentine's Day Spring draws near."
SAN VALENTINO
San Valentino è la festa dedicata agli Innamorati e si festeggia in quasi tutto il Mondo, dall'Europa all'America fino all'Estremo Oriente il giorno del 14 Febbraio. La festività prende il nome dal Santo e Martire Cristiano Valentino da Terni che andò a sostituire la festa romana delle Lupercalia dove veniva omaggiata la fertilità. La tradizione di scambiarsi biglietti d'auguri e regali tra innamorati risale invece al Medioevo quando cominciò a diffondersi l'Amor Cortese. I primi paesi d'Europa ha ricordare la memoria di San Valentino sono stati la Francia e l'Inghilterra grazie all'influsso dei benedettini. I bigliettini di auguri di San Valentino sono detti "Valentine" e, ad oggi, è stimato che il giorno del 14 febbraio ne vengano spediti circa 1 milardo, questo colloca la festa al secondo posto come numero di biglietti spediti, dopo il Natale. La festa è stata associata agli innamorati per il fatto che la Primavera si avvicina, esiste infatti il detto: "A San Valentino la Primavera si fa vicino".
