There's Carnival and Carnival, there's the fun one, there's the colored one, there's the one with the tanks and then there's Venice. There is nothing in the world more crazy, unabashedly luxurious, incredibly romantic and opulent as the Venice Carnival: hundreds of giant masks, all made by hand, stroll through the streets of Venice, leaving the tourists totally breathless is the perfect representation of allegory. You can find a bright sun, or a sad Pierrot, a Doge or a young lady and you're ready to dive back in time. How far back? The Carnival of Venice because you will lose the memory of the city and the first documents date back to 1094, almost more than 900 years of parties. The highlight of the Carnival is the Flight of the Dove: is a show that goes back to the mid 1500's when an acrobat walked on a wire from the belfry of the Campanile di San Marco to the Doge Palace. Now this tradition is renewed without this risk with the Columbine attached to a cable: often this Columbine is a famous Venetian woman. Every year the Carnival has a special theme this year is "Live the Color": the parties are officially begin Saturday, January 26th and will end Tuesday, February 12th.

IL CARNEVALE DI VENEZIA

C'è Carnevale e Carnevale, c'è quello divertente, c'è quello colorato, c'è quello con i carri e poi c'è Venezia. Non esiste al Mondo niente di più folle, sfacciatamente sontuoso, incredibilmente romantico e opulento come il Carnevale di Venezia: centinaia di maschere gigantesche, fatte tutte rigorosamente a mano, passeggiano tra le calli veneziane lasciando i turisti totalmente senza fiato: sono la rappresentazione perfetta dell'allegoria. Si può trovare un sole luminoso o un triste Pierrot, un Doge o una damina e sei pronto a tuffarti indietro nel tempo. Quanto indietro? Il Carnevale di Venezia si perde infatti nella memoria della città e i primi documenti risalgono al 1094, praticamente più di 900 anni di feste. L'evento clou del Carnevale è rappresentato dal Volo della Colombina: è uno spettacolo che risale alle metà del 1500 quando un acrobata camminò su un filo dalla cella campanaria del Campanile di San Marco fino al Palazzo Dogale. Ora questa tradizione si rinnova senza questo pericolo con la Colombina attaccata ad un cavo: spesso questa Colombina è una famosa donna veneziana. Ogni anno il Carnevale ha un tema speciale, quest'anno è "Vivi i Colori": le feste sono cominciate ufficialmente Sabato 26 Gennaio e si concluderanno Martedì 12 Febbraio.
