The Amaryllis, whose real name is Hippeastrum is a bulbous plant that comes from parts of South Africa, so it is a plant that requires warm and dry, and is perfect to be grown in the apartment. The Amaryllis does not produce fragrant flowers but they have various colors and experience ranging from pink to orange and can have two colors or streaks. The plant can become very high even up to 70 cm and produces leaves glabrous and high of a deep green color. Amaryllis is a plant that loves the bright spots, but not direct sunlight which can severely damage the flowers and the leaves. It's a perfect plant for the apartments because he suffers very cold months, but also moisture and is therefore not very suitable for the garden: the ideal temperature is around 20 °. The Amaryllis flowers in summer, produces a large amount of large flowers also 15 cm umbrella-shaped. The scientific name of Amaryllis, the Hippeastrum, means Star of the Knight but the origin of this name is unknown.

L'Amarillo non produce fiori profumati ma questi hanno colori vari e vivi che vanno dal rosa all'arancione e possono avere due colori o anche screziature. La pianta può diventare molto alta anche fino a 70 cm e produce delle foglie glabre e alte di un colore verde intenso. L'Amarillo è una pianta che ama le zone luminose, ma non la luce diretta del sole che può danneggiare gravemente sia i fiori che le foglie. È una pianta perfetta per gli appartamenti perché soffre molto i mesi freddi, ma anche l'umidità e quindi non è molto adatta per il giardino: la sua temperatura ideale si aggira intorno ai 20°. L'Amarillo fiorisce in estate, produce una grande quantità di fiori grandi anche 15 centimetri a forma di ombrello. Il nome scientifico dell'Amarillo, l'Hippeastrum, significa Stella del Cavaliere ma l'origine di questo nome è ignota.
