The Daisy is a herbaceous plant of the Asteraceae family very common in the meadows of the Italian peninsula. The generic name (Leucanthemum) is derived from two Greek words leukos (= white) and anthemon (= flower) and is obviously referring to the color of the flowers. It is an easy plant to grow and sure effect. It is used for borders or lawns. You can multiply by seed (in the spring) or by division of clumps in autumn. It prefers sunny areas to be normal to slightly shady land with garden, possibly loose and light (both acid and alkaline). Avoid stagnant water. In the language of flowers, the daisy has several meanings, all positive and connected with the concept of 'truth'. It 'the first delicate flower of purity and innocence, simplicity and modesty, but also of the faithful love and patience. Always been appreciated for the beauty of its seemingly simple class features, the meaning of the daisy symbolizes the innocence of youth, free from guilt, from sin and corruption. La Margherita è una pianta erbacea della famiglia delle Asteracee comunissima nei prati della Penisola italiana. Il nome generico (Leucanthemum) deriva da due parole greche leukos (= bianco) e anthemon (= fiore) e fa ovviamente riferimento al colore dei fiori. È un pianta facile da coltivare e di sicuro effetto. Viene utilizzata per bordure o tappeti erbosi. Si può moltiplicare per seme (in primavera) o per divisione dei cespi in autunno. Predilige zone da soleggiate a lievemente ombrose con terreni normali da giardino, possibilmente sciolti e leggeri (sia acidi che basici). Evita l'acqua stagnante. Nel linguaggio dei fiori, la margherita ha diversi significati, tutti positivi e collegati con il concetto di ‘verità’. E’ innanzitutto il fiore delicato della purezza e dell'innocenza, della semplicità e della modestia, ma anche dell'amore fedele e della pazienza. Da sempre apprezzato per la bellezza della sua apparentemente semplice fattezza, il significato della margherita simboleggia l'innocenza giovanile, libera dai sensi di colpa, dal peccato, dalla corruzione. Un tempo, infatti, era comunemente raccolto nei prati dalle fanciulle e infilato tra le ciocche dei capelli. A seconda dei soggetti interessati, il messaggio insito nelle margherite diventava particolarmente significativo quando venivano regalate e accettate: elogio alle numerose virtù, tante quanti erano i petali di ognuno di questi fiori, consegnava sincerità e irreprensibilità in mano di chi la riceveva, ma poteva anche costituire una promessa di amore fedele.
