Colombina is the name of the most famous Venetian mask and she's the icon of the maids of year 1500: she works for Pantalone (another famous Venetian mask), which brings a lot of attention that are the eternal jealous boyfriend Harlequin. The name Colombina was born around 1600 when the famous actress who played, Isabella Franchini, appears on the scene with a basket where you will see two doves. Colombina is a character absolutely moder for the period in which it was created: she's a woman who knows how to repel suitors with jokes. Colombina has a very strong character, she's able to put in place also Harlequin, especially when he tries to make advances to her friends. Colombina is also very vain, she wants to be always nice and tidy: she's very lively and mischievous and for this has always been one of the most beloved characters of the theaters.

Colombina è il nome della più famosa maschera veneziana e rappresenta l'icona delle servette del 1500: è a servizio presso Pantalone (altra nota maschera veneziana) che le porta molte attenzioni che fanno ingelosire l'eterno fidanzato Arlecchino. Il nome Colombina nasce intorno al 1600 quando la nota attrice che la interpretava, Isabella Franchini, si presenta in scena con un cesto dove si vedono due colombe. Colombina è un personaggio assolutamente per il periodo in cui è stato invetato: si tratta infatti di una donna che sa bene come respingere in modo ironico i corteggiatori. Colombina ha un carattere molto forte, è capace di mettere al proprio posto anche Arlecchino, soprattutto quando lui cerca di fare delle avance alle amiche di lei. Colombina è anche molto vanitosa, ci tiene ad essere sempre bella e ordinata: è molto vivace e maliziosa per questo è sempre stato uno dei personaggi più amati della Commedia dell'Arte.
